Vocation, one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing craft beer breweries, is launching a new tropical Double Dry Hopped IPA, called Toucan Tropic. The new beer is a full-flavoured hoppy brew, full of tropical flavours, with vibrant notes of mango, citrus and pine.
Toucan Tropic is available in Asda stores nationally from this week and also from Vocation’s online shop at www.vocationbrewery.com. It carries an RRP of £3.50 per 440ml can. The tropical Double Dry Hopped IPA is brewed with twice as many hops for twice the flavour, creating a bold and intensely juicy character. It is vegan friendly and has an abv of 6.7%.
Matt Howgate, Brewing Director at Vocation Brewery, says: “We are delighted to be launching our Toucan Tropic Double Dry Hopped IPA, which should appeal to a wide audience with its vibrant notes of mango, citrus and pine. What is particularly interesting about this beer is that it uses a very new hop, in fact so new that it is currently unnamed, simply carrying the hop code HBC 586. The HBC 586 hop provides the big bold tropical fruit flavours which are so important to this beer. We are one of the first brewers to adopt this hop and think it works incredibly well in this brew, combined with Simcoe and Galaxy hops.”
Johh Hickling, founder and CEO of Vocation Brewery, adds: “Toucan Tropic is the first of many retailer specials we have planned for 2022. To give an idea of what we have planned for this year, in 2021 we made a record 78 new beers! Each new beer involves refining a recipe, sourcing the ingredients and designing a new label from scratch. It’s a lot of work, but we do it because we never want to lose touch with the creativity and innovation that got us here in the first place.
“Last year we brewed over 10 million pints of beer, which represented a big jump from 2020 for us. We’ve seen growth in all areas of the business – in retail, pubs and bars, the webstore and export. We’re really looking forward to another busy year of hard grafting this year. I wonder if we can beat the record 78 beers in 2022?”
Vocation Brewery is an independent craft brewery based in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, founded in 2015 by John Hickling, with just himself, a rebuilt chicken shed and a dog for company. Today the brewery has 60 staff and sold over 10 million pints in 2021. They’ve come a long way, but it’s still their vocation.

Hop, Skip & Juice (5.7% abv): a tropical pale ale with heavy doses of citrussy Simcoe to get lips hopping.
Bread & Butter (3.9% abv): a dry, hopped pale ale using layers of US hops set against a backbone of British malts. What this beer lacks in strength, it makes up for in character.

Roll with It: (5.2% abv): with super juice hops and a pillowy soft mouthfeel, this DDH Pale Ale is hazy, hoppy and dangerously drinkable.
